Modern Slavery Act Policy
At Sherwood, we are dedicated to eradicating modern slavery in the oil and gas industry and fostering a culture of ethical practices throughout our operations. Our mission is to promote human rights, dignity, and social justice, ensuring that every individual involved in our value chain is treated with respect and fairness.
We recognize that modern slavery is a grave violation of basic human rights, and we are committed to playing an active role in preventing and addressing this issue. Our company strives to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and responsibility, ensuring that our business practices align with our moral values and global expectations.
Our mission encompasses the following core principles:
Zero Tolerance: We have zero tolerance for any form of modern slavery, including forced labor, human trafficking, child labor, debt bondage, or any other exploitative practices. We strictly condemn and actively combat these violations within our company and along our supply chains.
Ethical Recruitment: We are dedicated to fair and ethical recruitment practices, ensuring that all employees, contractors, and suppliers are engaged voluntarily and without coercion. We actively verify the labor conditions, recruitment agencies, and employment contracts to prevent any exploitation.
Supply Chain Responsibility: We recognize the importance of responsible supply chain management. We work diligently to identify, assess, and address potential risks of modern slavery within our supply chain, collaborating with suppliers to implement robust safeguards and monitoring mechanisms.
Employee Empowerment: We prioritize the empowerment and well-being of our employees. We provide a safe and inclusive work environment that respects their rights and fosters their personal and professional development. We offer training programs to raise awareness about modern slavery and equip employees with the knowledge to identify and report any concerns.
Collaboration and Advocacy: We actively engage with industry peers, governments, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to collaborate on initiatives aimed at eradicating modern slavery. We support advocacy efforts and promote legislative measures to strengthen protections against slavery and human rights abuses.
Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, procedures, and due diligence processes to adapt to evolving best practices and emerging risks. We hold ourselves accountable for progress, transparently reporting our actions and outcomes.
By embracing this mission, we aim to contribute to a world free from modern slavery, where the rights and dignity of all individuals are respected. We strive to set a benchmark for ethical conduct within the oil and gas industry, inspiring positive change and building a sustainable future for all.
Sustainability
Together, through our commitment, we aim to achieve sustainable progress in order to make our company and the communities where we operate richer, more inclusive and more resilient, without leaving anyone behind.
Today our sustainable approach to creating long-term shared value is guiding the energy transition. And we aim to carry on finding new, innovative tools to contribute to positive growth, without ever losing sight of the future of our society.
SDG7, which in summary is for the granting of universal access to modern energy, is still far from being recognized and implemented worldwide despite recent efforts to increase global access to energy. At Sherwood, we look to enable access to affordable energy, which is not only for the good of economic growth, but for the development of many other services, such as health, education, and transport.
